Veneto & Venice Food and Recipes
My first introduction to the cooking of the Veneto region was through
my mamma and my many aunts, all of whom came from Vicenza or nearby towns and villages.
I must have been around four the first time I helped my mother in the kitchen and those aromas and wonderful flavors have stayed with me forever! These recipes bring those memories flooding back...
Let me share with you then some of these all time favorite recipes from the Veneto and a few classics from other regions of Italy.
Some
of the best recipes are, as mentioned, from my mother and my aunts, some are from local
restaurants, while others have been shared with me by friends.
They range from a Gnocchi recipe through to a great cannoli recipe and even an Italian cookie recipe – Veneto style.
In
Veneto and Venice, as in all of Italy, food is a serious business. The Veneto, perhaps more than any other, is the
region of Italy where you will find dishes to suit all tastes.
Venice,
Lake Garda and the coastal region have some fabulous fish recipes,
Verona is famous for its duck and pheasant, while throughout the
mountain areas polenta recipes and gnocchi recipes abound.
