You come to Italy thinking it will be a trip. You leave knowing it was a beginning
Flights to Venice
Getting flights to Venice from the USA and Australia is not difficult; it is getting there cheaply that is the difficult part.
Getting to Venice from the States
When it comes to flying from the United States to Venice, there are several airlines to choose from, offering different routes and options for travelers. As of my last check, the selection included ITA (Italy's national carrier), British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, Continental, American Airlines, Delta, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways.
It's important to note that most flights from the United States to Venice are not direct and require a layover or transfer somewhere in Europe. This means that you'll have the opportunity to explore another city or country along the way, which can add an exciting element to your journey. However, it's essential to consider the additional travel time and potential fatigue that comes with connecting flights.
If you prefer a more direct route, airlines like Delta, American, and ITA offer nonstop flights to Venice. While these direct flights can be more convenient, they often come at a higher cost compared to flights with layovers. It's worth considering your budget and preferences when deciding which option works best for you.
Additionally, keep in mind that flight availability and routes can vary depending on the time of year and airline schedules.

Getting to Venice from Australia & New Zealand
There are plenty of airlines that will get you to Venice, but the fares aren’t always as dreamy as the destination. To find the best deals, I recommend shopping around and comparing prices.
For many Australians and New Zealanders, Turkish Airlines is a favorite – great service, fair prices, and an extensive network with modern planes. Qatar Airways is another excellent choice. Their legroom (even in economy!) is something my husband still raves about – and he’s 6'3"! Both airlines make the long haul far more comfortable than you might expect.
If budget is top priority, Air China often has very competitive fares, plus you can break your trip in Beijing for a quick taste of China. Air France is also worth a look, especially when they run one of their regular promotions.
Personally, I’ve flown Turkish more than once and always found them excellent value. But last year I tried Qatar and came away hugely impressed – the service, space, and comfort made the journey a pleasure.
✈️ Tip: Start your search early and check a few different dates – airfares can fluctuate depending on season, availability, and promotions.
