Flights to Venice
Getting a flight to Venice Italy from the USA and Australia is not
difficult – it is getting to Venice cheaply that is the difficult part.
Getting to Venice from the States
The choice of airlines offering flights from the States to
Venice, when I last checked, included Alitalia (Italy’s national
carrier), British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, Continental, American
Airlines, Delta, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways.
These are, for the most part, not direct flights and involve a change somewhere in Europe. The direct flights like those of Delta, American and Alitalia normally cost more.
In terms of cheap prices it is a case of shopping around for current deals. I use a site called Kayak for this.
Condor is one really cheap alternative to the big name" airlines. They
have direct flights into Venice from Anchorage, Las Vegas, Billings and Boise.
Getting to Venice from Australia
The number of airlines offering Venice flights is huge but the
airfares aren’t so great. Basically you are looking at anything from
AUD1,800 upwards. All I can really suggest is that you shop around.
Some airlines in particular seem to offer specials on a regular
basis – most notably Emirates, Qatar, Air China and Air France.
British Airways, Lufthansa
, Singapore and Quantas occasionally have special deals but generally their fares
seem to be a good deal more expensive than Air France or Emirates.
My choice when travelling south of the equator is Emirates, great service and decent prices. Last year I also had the chance to fly Qatar and here too I was very impressed, my husband, who is 6 feet and 3 inches tall, swore that the legroom was the best he'd ever seen in economy.
