Our go-To Restaurants in Venice

by Andre
(Los Angeles, CA)

My wife and I go to Osteria da Alberto, in Cannaregio, for lagoon seafood cuisine. Family-run with great house wines.

We also love Ristorante La Colonna, also in Cannaregio. The chef sometimes walks around the restaurant and visits tables asking how the food was.

And whenever we can get in, we also try to visit Ristorante Il Milion, also in Cannaregio. The original floor was walked upon by Marco Polo. Great lagoon fare. We always, but always, try to eat deep inside the neighborhoods and stay away from the large piazzas.

Buon appetito.

Maria's reply: Thank you so much for your review and your great tip about eating in the neighborhoods and not anywhere near the large piazzas. That is so true, and it is something I always recommend to people.

Regarding the restaurants you mention, Il Milion and Osteria da Alberto are two restaurants I have been thinking about adding to the website for quite a while now but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Both are excellent. I haven't eaten at La Colonna, but I'll certainly visit next time I am in Venice.

Trattoria da Denis - Our Recommendation in Venice

by Jacqueline Marchant

A gorgeous little restaurant off the beaten track and through the winding bridges nd alleys from St Marks. Young fellows run it and the food, when we were there, is sensational. True Venetian fare. And the customer service was fabulous!

Ristorante Trattoria Cherubino

by Shirley Turner
(Sherborne, Dorset, UK)

I have been to Venice several times now, and always end up going back to this Trattoria. The owner and staff are very friendly and the food and wine excellent. I absolutely love it. Come November I am in Venice for a week once again and that is where I shall eat, no question!

Are there land dishes also available at this restaurant? I cannot find any menu available online. Thanks!

Maria's reply: They have a lot of land dishes available. The best way to see the restaurant's menu is to search for them on Google. It should come up on the right with a map, photos and rating. Click on the photos and you will see a menu option.

Where is this located in Venice?

I’m not familiar with this Trattoria. I can’t wait until I can return to Venice.

Maria's reply: The address is Calle Frezzeria San Marco 1702 - 30124 Venice. It is located about half way between St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge.
